Changes rates to parcel carrier GLS

Official press release from GLS regarding tariff changes:

Dear partner,

GLS invests in a safer working environment
To comply with the adjusted guidelines from the Labour Inspectorate and continue to protect our employees, we are investing in tools such as vacuum lifters and lifting aids, creating more variety in tasks, and adapting our processes to limit physical strain. Unfortunately, these necessary adjustments are leading to increased costs. Therefore, we are obliged to adjust our surcharges as of 1st August 2025.

Surcharge Changes from 1st August 2025

  • New: Heavy Parcel Surcharge. A surcharge of €5,00 will apply to parcels weighing more than 20 kilograms. This is the maximum weight one person is permitted to lift repeatedly according to the Labour Inspectorate.
  • Amended: The surcharge for parcels that cannot be sorted mechanically will increase to €5,75. These parcels require extra manual processing, which we want to continue to carry out safely and responsibly.

Please note: These two surcharges can be applied cumulatively. This means that if a parcel weighs more than 20 kilograms and is not mechanically sortable, both surcharges will be applied. Naturally, we are happy to work with you to find practical solutions for processing your shipments efficiently, safely, and within the set standards. By – where possible – splitting heavy shipments into lighter parcels and optimising the sortability of shipments, the physical work will be eased. GLS will continue to actively invest in processing heavy and non-standard parcels responsibly. In this way, we collectively contribute to a safe and healthy working environment for everyone in the logistics chain.
